Adult Sunday School Classes
All of our Adult Sunday School Classes meet at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday mornings. The stated ages are only a guideline and reflect the average age of the people in the class. Please feel free to visit any of the classes that interest you. Faith Plus class
For singles and couples in their 20's and 30's with no children; Room 2355
…a new class for young adults in their 20s and 30s, whether married or single, who have not started a family yet, and who are seeking friends, community, biblical knowledge, and commitment to serve others while hanging out together. Teacher Michael Lee and directors Matt and Meredith Mosley invite you to come. Once you do, you’ll be back!

Avodah Class
Open to men and women of all ages, and marital status, mostly 25 - 40 year olds;
Room 3305
A*vo*dah: a Hebrew word meaning both "work" and "worship". This Open Enrollment class seeks to discuss how we bridge the gap between our Sunday and Monday lives. How is our faith lived out at work, at home, with our families? Topics are selected by the class and have ranged from examining a theology of money, to the theology of U2. Class teacher is Alan Wright.

Genesis Class
For couples, ages 25-35; kids are babies through elementary aged;
Room 3204
gen*e*sis: The coming into being of something; the origin. Join this couples class of new beginnings, and be encouraged and challenged with stimulating Bible lessons. Some of these couples have infants and toddlers. Contact Allison Brown for more information.

Seekers Class
For couples, ages 25-40 with kids from babies to elementary school age;
Room 3202
seek*er: One who seeks; a seeker of truth. This diverse group of adults is constantly "seeking" to follow God's will for our lives through study, prayer and interaction with one another. Several teachers rotate teaching responsibilities throughout the year. Contact Bill Hollis for more information.

Journey Class
For couples ages 35-45; with kids toddlers through junior high aged; Room 3211
jour*ney: A process or course likened to traveling; a passage. This active group of couples enjoys the dynamic and energetic teaching styles of Mike and Donna Rosamond. Welcome to the journey of life! Contact Holly Smith for more information.

Covenant Class
For couples and single parents, ages 35-50; with kids from elementary aged through high school,
Room 3101
cov*e*nant: A binding agreement; a compact; God's promise to the human race. This group "promises" to promote a community of encouragement through quality Bible study and welcoming fellowship. This class is taught by a rotation of members from within the class, and directed by Gina Ortegon.

Oasis Class
Mostly couples, ages 40-50; with kids elementary aged through high school; Room 3205
o*a*sis: something that provides refuge, relief or pleasant contrast. New in September 2006, this class appeals to parents of older children and youth who are in or are entering junior high school, although others are always welcome. The class focuses on biblical studies that provide insight into challenges faced by parents at this time in their lives. Mike and Mindy Bateman are directors.

Epiphany Class
Ages 40-55; Room 3203
Director is Steve Terry. Learning to enjoy your 40s to mid-50s? Have school-age children? Then this might be the class you're looking for! Rotating teachers stimulate thoughtful discussions on biblical topics and Christian studies in this lively, active group of median adults who consider themselves "forever young."

Cord of Three Class
Ages 45 to 60; Room 3201
Director is Jerilynn Armstrong. Cord of Three is a group of median adults, with children ranging from elementary school to college but primarily parents of junior high and high school students. The class comes together for stimulating Bible study and lively discussion, welcoming members and visitors alike. The class takes its name from Ecclesiastes 4:12: "Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken."

B.E.S.T. Class
Ages 50 to 65;
Room 3103
Directed by Becky and Harry Wakefield. What makes the BEST so good? Just ask them! An enthusiastic director and challenging teachers lead an energetic group of family-oriented "boomers". Class fellowship with a commitment to missions describes this group of caring, involved Wilshire members who have children in junior high, high school, college, and beyond. BEST says it all: Boomers Encouraging and Studying Together.

Banta Class
Couples, ages 55 and above; Room 3207
Directed by Jimmy Ward. This is a small median adult couples class that primarily studies different books of the Bible, but occasionally uses curriculum. Althought mainly concentrating on New Testament studies, teacher Rob Banta also ventures into the Old Testament and to other topical studies. Strong freindships, activities outside church, and caring for one another keeps this group together.

Whosoever Wilshire class
Ages 50 and above; Single, and married; Room 3208
Directed by Doug and Mary Ann Hill. Diverse life experiences characterize this blended group of married and single adults, ranging in age from the 50's to early 70's. Some are long-time members; others are new. Many are very active in other ministries of the church, especially the music ministry. Creative teachers offer a wide range of learning opportunities using various curricula and topical studies taught by class members and others who are invited to teach on a rotation basis.

Bright Fellowship Class
For ages 60 and above; Room 3206
Directors are Tony and Angie Francis. This long-standing, large, active class of mostly professional, almost or recently retired couples is taught by Preston Bright, Wilshire's Associate Pastor Emeritus, and others on occasion. If you enjoy lively discussions, participation in mission projects locally and globally, becoming involved with a caring and supportive group, talking about your grown children and/or grandchildren, this is the place for you.

Compass Class
Mostly couples in a wide age range (40 to 80); Room 3105
Directors are Sam and Peggy Tinsley. In existence for more than 30 years, this class plans its own curriculum on an annual basis after soliciting input from class members. Compass is a class of adult searchers of all ages--some longterm members, and others new--who rigorously solicit alternative views on almost every issue and believe a rigid conformity to dogma is not the message of Jesus Christ. Come explore many different approaches to biblical knowledge and understanding of the Christian experience.

Discovery Class
Open to men and women of all ages (wide age range from 35 to 75); Room 1205L
Taught by Associate Pastor Mark Wingfield, 214-452-3128. Discovery is an open-door class for members and visitors, for long-time believers and spiritual seekers alike. Any adult, whether currently in a Sunday School class or not, is welcome to come for any or all in a series of short-term studies. The class is best described as easygoing, and discussions center around discovering basic truths of the Bible and Christian faith. People come and go, so you will always feel welcome. Come try this class for one Sunday, or many! The current study is on the book of Revelation.

Circle of Women class
For women of all ages, but most in 40s to 60s; Room 3309
Directed by Dorothy Ewing, and taught by Linda Garner and Micki Lacker. This class is open to all women, regardless of age or stage of life, and represents a variety of backgrounds--married, single, divorced, and widowed. Circle of Women provides an opportunity for women to minister to and learn from each other. Come be a part of lively discussions in a curriculum-based teaching time. This circle of women won't be complete without you!

Aspen class
For Men only of all ages (most in 40s to 50s); Room 2370
Directed by Byron McCoy. Open to all men, regardless of age or stage in life, this growing fellowship is committed to learning and sharing strength through connected Christian roots. Curriculum is used to promote interactive discussion and teaching to discern life applications from Scripture. This is a good opportunity for single men, or those whose spouses may be serving in the preschool or children's divisions.
