One of Wilshire’s national mission projects will happen close to home this summer.
The project chosen by Baptist Church Builders of Texas for 2008 will be to erect a new Sanctuary for Cornerstone Baptist Church in Trenton, which is located northeast of McKinney.
For several years, a group of Wilshire members has participated in Church Builders projects across the country. Through the annual blitz, volunteers work together to raise a church building from slab to completion in one week each summer.
To learn more about how you can help this summer, contact Yvette Patton at (214) 827-0550 or by email.
Other opportunities for summer missions work through Wilshire include an August trip to Busia, Kenya, through the KidsHeart Africa partnership. Volunteers will conduct a camp for 50 AIDS orphans in foster care through Buckner International. These children are supported through the child development center built by Wilshire in Busia.
Also, additional Wilshire volunteers are needed to help with expanded food service times at the Stew Pot in downtown Dallas. The Stew Pot soon will expand to serve breakfast and dinner, in addition to lunch. To learn more, contact Christy Edwards at (214) 452-3149.
