Missions Blitz is Oct. 11; 400 sought

Four hundred Wilshire volunteers are sought for the church’s second annual Missions Blitz on Saturday, Oct. 11.

In spring 2006, more than 300 volunteers devoted a Saturday of service at a variety of local mission sites. The Missions Committee has scheduled the second blitz for fall 2008, hoping to enlist even more support.

In a few weeks, sign-up boards will be posted outside the first-floor church offices. These boards will detail all the places of service available on blitz day. Opportunities will range from note-writing to construction.

Beneficiaries will be most of Wilshire’s local missions partners, such as Christ Church Rockwall, Healing Hands Ministries, Gospel Light Eritrean Church, Habitat for Humanity, White Rock Center of Hope, the Wilkinson Center and others.

This is an opportunity for families or Sunday School classes to plan a day of community service together. No prior experience is required.

Watch the Tapestry for more about the Missions Blitz and details about places of service. And mark your calendar for Oct. 11.
