Twenty-five Wilshire members will travel to Kenya in July as the first of several teams to launch the church’s KidsHeart Africa initiative.
KidsHeart Africa is a joint venture between the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Buckner Orphan Care International. The goal is to serve AIDS orphans in particular through creation of child development centers in Kenyan towns and villages.
Senior Pastor George Mason will be among those leading the trip. Other Wilshire volunteers include medical personnel, construction volunteers, child care workers and those with a general interest in helping launch KidsHeart.
Scholarship assistance is still sought to help offset the $3,600 cost of each person’s participation. Designated contributions may be made to the Volunteers in Missions fund for this purpose.
