Journal Review: Weavings
By Claudia Barner

For starters, Weavings is an award-winning journal grounded in classical Christianity and published bi-monthly. But that doesn’t begin to tell you what to expect when you open the pages of this beautiful and thoughtful journal.

Seems like I had a question that I took to George Mason in 1992 (I remember because I have Weavings’ back issues in my file cabinet dating back to then!). He loaned me his copy to read, and I have been hooked ever since!

Each issue explores a contemporary theme related to the spiritual journey through articles, meditations, poetry and fiction written by many of today’s best writers. A sampling of some of my favorites includes “Attentiveness,” “The Vineyard,” “The Gift of Tears,” “Wounded Healers,” “Letting Go,” “Gratitude,” “Hilarity,” “Impasse,” “Commitment,” “Creativity,” and I could go on an on! I have shared meaningful quotes from essays with other seekers, given gift subscriptions to family and friends, and discovered my all-time favorite story of spiritual growth in Weavings.

Reading Weavings has enriched my life because each issue artistically reveals the many ways God’s life and human lives are being woven together in the world. Check out this outstanding journal for yourself — our Wilshire library is now receiving copies. It just might become a light and gift for your journey also.
