Wilshire’s people strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus not only in faraway places but also within the immediate community. Whether you’re in a time of life where you need someone to walk with you or when you’re strong enough to walk alongside someone else, an array of care ministries may provide the connection.
The flagship of this work is Stephen Ministry, which pairs trained laypeople with individuals in need of Christian companionship during times of life crisis. Wilshire has more than 60 trained Stephen Ministers available for assignment. New training classes are offered once or twice a year.
Support Teams Ministry brings together small teams of people with specific expertise to help individuals or families during times of difficulty. Support teams draw upon attorneys, health care providers, educators, accountants, organizers, drivers and others to create unique strike forces of compassion.
These are only the beginning. Caring people are needed to serve as ushers, greeters welcoming guests and members, food deliverers, flower arrangers, homebound visitors and more. Wilshire’s care ministries seek to connect individuals in places of meaningful service using their God-given strengths. Also talk to Tiffany Wright, minister for care ministries, about single adult ministry, prayer ministry, women’s ministry and other specialized opportunities.
