Wilshire’s Wednesday evening schedule for preschoolers and children will take some new twists this fall to help families manage church and school and bedtimes.
The fellowship meal will continue to be served from 5 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday. However, the start time for preschool and children’s choirs will move from 6 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Preschool and children’s choirs will run from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m., followed immediately by Globetrekkers from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Globetrekkers is Wilshire’s unique missions education program for older preschoolers and children.
“Our preschool, children’s and music staffs have collaborated over the summer to squeeze the most use out of the time families are willing to give on Wednesday evenings,” explained Associate Pastor Mark Wingfield. “The result is a slightly more compressed schedule that eliminates down time for children between eating and the start of choir and that aligns the ending time of preschool and children’s activities with the ending time of adult Bible study.
“Our research indicated these changes will allow more children and adults to participate in Wednesday evening activities,” he added.
The Wednesday evening Bible study for adults will run from 6 to 7 p.m., as before.
During the remainder of construction on the new Community Hall, the fellowship meals will be served in the Youth Center. Adult Bible study also will be held in the Youth Center. After the new Community Hall opens in late fall, both activities will move to that larger space.
Wednesday evening meal service resumes Aug. 20, which is a night of teacher training and committee meetings. Preschool and children’s activities will resume the following week, Aug. 27, with Music and Missions Kickoff beginning at 5:45 p.m.
A fellowship meal and adult Bible study also is offered at midday Wednesdays. Lunch is served beginning at 11:30, and the Bible study begins at noon.
