July 14, 2008 -
Thank you to Carolyn Shapard who taught again this Sunday. She shared her faith statement and reviewed a little of what she had talked about last week. She had encouraged us to think about our own journeys and the people who have helped us to become who we are. Several people shared about a special person in their lives. Several also shared their favorite Bible verse and how it had helped them.
Glen Schmucker (former pastor at Cliff Temple Baptist Church) will teach on July 20, August 3 and 10. (Glen and his wife Nancy joined the church last Sunday.) Tom will be back on August 17. Circle Sept. 7 on your calendar. It will be the welcome brunch for the new pastoral residents, Matt Marston and D.J. Reed.
We have a date to participate with the Angel Food Network on Saturday, August 23. This work entails the distribution of food from the Interfaith parking lot between 7:45 am and 11:00 am. We will need about 10 people to participate. We also have the opportunity to do a work day at Interfaith over the next few months. Most people said a Saturday date would be better for them, so Jill will see about arranging that for September. However they really need help in the next few weeks, so we have signed up to help with apartment setup on Wednesday, July 23. Let Jill (jill.vigil@heart.org) know if you are available and willing to work some time that day
Steve bought a $250.00 Target gift card for Sean and Jamie to help them with expenses related to settling in Dallas. We signed a card for them and Steve is going to take it to them this week.
Reminders:
- Bring your class profiles if you have not completed one. We need to get everyone represented.
- We will have a class lunch on Sunday, July 20. We will go to Cafe Express in Mockingbird Station after the 11:00 service.
- Prayerfully consider your giving to the Ministry Fund . (There is a deficit of $217.363.00 between monies received and the projected income for the first six months of 2008.)

Prayer requests:
- Remember John, Lianne, Courtney, Grant and Elliot Brashier--Grant (about age 16) was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease and will begin chemo, probably tomorrow. (John was the youth minister at Wilshire before Darren.)
- Remember Marion Armstrong as she is now traveling in Central and South America. Pray for her safety and her next step when she returns this fall. Jerilynn's parents will be meeting Marion during her travels (in Peru?)
- Remember Martha's husband Barry as he is having tests for abdominal pain.
- Remember Nancy Furney's young niece, Lily, who has several seizures a day--and for her parents
- Continued prayer for Pam, Michael and Spencer.
- Remember David Y. as he considers new job options.
- Sean and Jamie as the moving truck arrives in Dallas and they get settled in. (It broke down in Louisiana enroute, so will be here later this week.) Also pray for discernment as they seek direction.
- Mary requested prayer for David as he searches for a new job (3 interviews scheduled on Monday and Tuesday) and for wisdom managing his current salary.
- Remember Tom and Susan's family as they prepare for Amanda's wedding.
- Remember Denise as she is facing personal and health issues.
- Remember the Mitchell family as they grieve the loss of their dog of 14 years. Kathy also asks prayer for guidance for Steven and Kristin.
