Wilshire is a dynamic and changing congregation that believes in learning from the past and preparing for the future. To that end, the congregation engages in ongoing strategic planning, utilizing a mixture of lay and staff leadership.
The strategic plan addresses areas of needed attention rather than areas where things are considered to be fine-tuned. And so the plan does not address all areas of church life. It is a roadmap to growth and improvement, not an outline for maintenance.
The current strategic plan is built around five key priorities:
1. Evangelize Our Community. Our goal is to invite people to faith in Christ and into fellowship with the church.
2. Promote Christian Practices. Wilshire seeks to equip and encourage all congregants to practice the disciplines of the Christian life.
3. Mobilize missional servants. We seek to enlist, equip and empower congregants for service in and beyond the church.
4. Teach Basic Beliefs. Wilshire will teach the core beliefs of the Christian faith and historic Baptist distinctives across all ages and stages of faith development. Core Christian Beliefs and Historic Baptist Distinctives (pdf)
5. Expand Care Ministries. We seek to support and nurture individuals and families through life stages and challenges.
The strategic plan is managed by a Challenge Council, which meets quarterly to review progress and make adjustments. Quarterly reports of the Challenge Council may be viewed below.
