New Song Senior Adult Choir:
A community choir
Wilshire's senior adult choir, New Song, represents the community and has developed its own sense of community. If you're 60 or older and are looking for a place to make friends, have a great time, be encouraged and help others, New Song is the place for you.
No matter what your musical skills, you are welcome in New Song. Some members of the choir are professional musicians, and others just want to make a joyful noise to the Lord. Currently, the choir includes members of 30 area churches: Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Church of Christ and more. There's a place for you.
From its birth in the fall of 2005, New Song has grown from 35 participants to 100 today, even as some have gone out and others come in.
New Song sings in worship, usually at the 8:30 service, at Wilshire about once a month and also performs in the community during the week about once a month. Its outside concerts are mainly a service to places where people need a lift—hospitals, nursing homes, retirement communities.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Choral Hall, which is located on the second floor on the south end of the building. New Song rehearses from September through mid-June and takes a break during July and August.
