Join the Wilshire Adventurers
Wilshire Adventurers is a fellowship and travel group that provides monthly activities for all adults 60 and older. A committee of senior adults plans these activities in consultation with Associate Pastor Mark Wingfield and Minister to Senior Adults Jessica Capps. Activities range from game days at the church to weeklong trips around the country.
Upcoming events for 2018:
MAY: Adventurers to Fair Park
Senior adults are invited to join Wilshire Adventurers for a historical tour of Fair Park on Thursday, May 24. The group will leave the church at 9:45 a.m. and return after lunch at the Old Mill Inn in Fair Park. The event is free, except for lunch, which is on your own. Sign up at the Adventurers table on Sunday mornings in the South Lobby or during Wednesday noon in Community Hall.
JUNE: Speaker, lunch, game day
Join Wilshire Adventurers on Tuesday, June 19, for a program on a theology of food (with maybe a little music included too) led by Leanna Coyle-Carr, who is married to Pastoral Resident Aaron Coyle-Carr and is a recent graduate of Wake Forest Divinity School. The free program in Community Hall starts at 10:30 and will be followed by lunch for $7 and then table games. No reservation is required.
Are you a senior adult new to Wilshire? If you are new to Wilshire, the activities with the Wilshire Adventurers provide an easy way to meet new people, learn about Wilshire and have some fun.
Wilshire also has a weekly meal (Koinonia Cafe) on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in our Community Hall followed by a Bible study or speaker at noon. The menu changes weekly. Menu/Prices. These meals are heavily attended by senior adults and are another good entry point in to the life of the church.
