Anne Jernberg is in her second year as Pastoral Resident at Wilshire. She joined Wilshire’s pastoral residency program after earning a master of divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School in 2006. Anne graduated from Austin College (Sherman, Texas) with a bachelor’s degree in religion in 2003. She is a Dallas native and grew up at Wilshire.
While at Harvard, Jernberg worked at The Memorial Church in Harvard Yard, served as a chaplain at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and was Director of Spiritual Life for the Divinity School.
Travel is a passion of Jernberg’s. In 2003 she went to El Salvador as part of a North American Peace Delegation, and in 2005 she took a summer course at St. George’s College in Jerusalem.
Jason Edwards

Jason Edwards is in his first year as pastoral resident at Wilshire. He began his work in September 2007, coming to Dallas from a two-year assignment with the Global Service Corps of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
He and his wife, Christy, worked in Thailand with the Upland Holistic Development Project, which ministers among the marginalized Hill Tribe groups. They previously ministered among African refugees in Paris, France.
Jason earned a bachelor of arts degree in religion and English from East Texas Baptist University, then went to Baylor University, where he earned a master of divinity degree from Truett Theological Seminary. He has done additional study at Wheaton College and two linguistic institutes.
Julie Merritt

Julie Merritt is in her first year as pastoral resident at Wilshire. She began her work in September 2007, coming to Dallas from a year-long experience in Clinical Pastoral Education at Baptist Health System in San Antonio. Through this program, she served as a chaplain resident at Southeast Baptist Hospital and North Central Baptist Hospital.
A native of Clear Lake, Texas, she is a graduate of William Jewell College and Baylor University’s Truett Theological Seminary.
She previously served as an interim associate pastor at Friedens United Church of Christ in Riesel and as pastoral associate at DaySpring Baptist Church in Waco.
For two years, she taught high school English in Sugar Land, in the Fort Bend Independent School District.
Ryan Heritage

Ryan Heritage is in his first of three years as Wilshire’s second music ministry resident.
His goal, he said, is “to be a minister first and a musician second. I want to see any music ministry that I work with grow in the capabilities already present, learn insightful aspects that will strengthen faith and develop a way of outreach to those in need.”
Before attending Samford, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in church music at Erskine College in Due West, S.C.
He currently serves as minister of music at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove, Ala., and has been a graduate assistant at Samford.
Heritage has experience in choral conducting, in directing handbells, and plays guitar and mandolin.
In 2004, he placed at both the state and regional levels of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition.
