Classes meet at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

One size doesn’t fit all in adult Sunday School at Wilshire. Especially if you are new to Wilshire, we encourage you to try on several classes until you find the right fit.

Most classes, unless noted, include both men and women, couples and singles. Although general age ranges are given, people of all ages are welcome to participate in any class.

Bright Fellowship - Room 3206
This long-standing class of active couples and singles in their 60s and 70s reflects two Wilshire characteristics—diversity and inclusiveness. Members love and support one another and enjoy a unique social atmosphere. There are retreats and numerous social functions throughout the year. The class is taught by Associate Pastor Emeritus Preston Bright and other class members. Lessons are all Bible based, and lively discussions are the norm. Bright Fellowship initiates many mission projects through its own missions committee and is active in most church-sponsored mission projects.

Charlie's Angels - Room 2365
Ranging in age from 60s to 90s, this class in an active group of senior adults led by Charlie Burgin and taught by Alvin Burns and Coyle Stephenson.  Lessons are drawn from the Smyth & Helwys "Formations" curriculum.  The class also gathers for fellowship on Monday nights at Highland Park Cafeteria.

Compass - Room 3103
A curriculum committee plans lessons with input from members, creating a mix of Bible study and topical studies related to Wilshire’s mission of “building a community of faith shaped by the Spirit of Jesus Christ.” Class members range in age from their 40s to 80s and enjoy vigorous discussion on almost every issue, believing rigid conformity to dogma is not the message of Jesus Christ. Regular social events are planned, and many members eat lunch together on Sundays. Class directors are Sam and Peggy Tinsley.

Men's Bible - Room 2350
Director Stan Bullock and teacher George Niemann lead this small-group class of men, mainly in their 70s, in systematic Bible studies.

Open Bible - Room 3301
Taught by Craig Keith and directed by John Coates, this large class mainly comprises three decades of senior adults in their 60s, 70s and 80s, with a mixture of members married and single. Learners of all ages are welcome. Lessons are based on books of the Bible and include reading from Scripture, presentation of Bible commentary and spirited group discussion. This class has social activities about once a month.
