The senior adult choir, New Song, will resume rehearsals for 2006/2007 at Wilshire on August 30. They will be singing in both services on September 10th in observance of Senior Adult Day. Visitors are welcome to come on Wednesday, September 13th.
This choir was the featured choir at the DBU event this past Spring honoring Estelle Slater and in memory of her brother Norvelle Slater. They participated in the Senior Adult Choir Festival sponsored by the Baptist General Convention at Baylor University earlier this year as well.
Directed by Music Associate Sarah Stafford, the choir is open to all adults 55 and older regardless of musical ability. No audition is necessary to join this choir.
Rehearsals will be held from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesdays. The choir will sing in worship at Wilshire, and Stafford intends for the group to travel to senior adult choir festivals and to sing at community venues.
Membership in the choir is open to all senior adults, whether Wilshire members or not. Members of other area churches are invited to participate in this fellowship and ministry opportunity.
