Joan Hammons is minister to preschoolers at Wilshire. She joined the staff in July 2007, coming from Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth, where she had been minister to preschoolers and children. She previously served as coordinator of multi-housing ministry and director of storefront ministries with Greater New Orleans Baptist Association. She also has been a social worker and youth worker. Joan earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and a master of religious education degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She and her husband, David, are the parents of three children.
