Ryan Heritage is Wilshire’s second music ministry resident.
Heritage grew up in a strong church music program at Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson, S.C., which is a church philosophically akin to Wilshire.
His goal, he said, is “to be a minister first and a musician second. I want to see any music ministry that I work with grow in the capabilities already present, learn insightful aspects that will strengthen faith and develop a way of outreach to those in need.”
Before attending Samford, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in church music at Erskine College in Due West, S.C.
He currently serves as minister of music at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove, Ala., and has been a graduate assistant at Samford.
Heritage has experience in choral conducting, in directing hand bells and plays guitar and mandolin.
In 2004, he placed at both the state and regional levels of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition.
