Julie Merritt is a pastoral resident at Wilshire. She began her work in September 2007, coming to Dallas from a year-long experience in Clinical Pastoral Education at Baptist Health System in San Antonio. Through this program, she served as a chaplain resident at Southeast Baptist Hospital and North Central Baptist Hospital. A native of Clear Lake, Texas, she is a graduate of William Jewell College and Baylor University’s Truett Theological Seminary. She previously served as an interim associate pastor at Friedens United Church of Christ in Riesel and as pastoral associate at DaySpring Baptist Church in Waco. For two years, she taught high school English in Sugar Land, in the Fort Bend Independent School District.
