Help invite the community to July 2 concert & BBQ

The annual Wilshire Winds patriotic concert will be preceded this year by a community barbeque.

“Your help is needed to get the word out about this great event,” said Associate Pastor Mark Wingfield. “We have prepared a colorful door hanger that we hope to distribute to thousands of homes in the area.”

Beginning next Sunday, June 22, there are two ways to help with the door hanger distribution:

  • Go to the table outside the church office and pick up a packet of door hangers to be distributed on designated streets near the church. Choose a convenient time for yourself within that week to distribute those door hangers.
  • Take a handful of door hangers to distribute in your own neighborhood or sphere of influence.

The barbeque dinner will be catered by Dickey’s and will take place in the Prayer Garden and James Gallery from 5:30 to 7 p.m. July 2.

“An American Pageant” is the theme of the Wilshire Winds concert, which will begin at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

A highlight of the program will be the ensemble’s performance of a piece by the same name, featuring euphonium soloist Tom Fletcher. “An American Pageant” includes glimpses of Americana, including an homage to “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” That popular tune celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

Joining Wilshire Winds at this year’s concert will be the Dallas Christian Jazz Band.

Child care will be available during the concert but not during the dinner.
