Lifelong learners

Our flagship enterprise for Christian education and spiritual formation is called Sunday School. In our Baptist tradition, Sunday School isn’t just for children. The vast majority of our active adult members are engaged in small-group study through Sunday School classes. There is a class for everyone of any age.

In addition to Sunday School, learning opportunities include Wednesday Bible studies, small-group Bible studies offered seasonally and in homes, special seminars and the twice-a-year learning smorgasbord called Wilshire Academy.

On the items/tabs listed on the right, you'll learn more about opportunities for preschoolers, children, youth and adults - classes for adults under 40, classes for adults ages 40-60, classes for adults over 60. Many intergenerational classes also available. All classes for birth through 12th grade are age-graded.

joeteach.jpgAdult classes are loosely age-graded, but age may not be the key factor in finding a class where you are most comfortable. You are encouraged to visit as many classes as you like and find the one that fits you best. Each class has its own personality and style. Most classes, unless noted, include both men and women. All adult classes are open to individuals who are married, single, divorced or widowed.

Sunday School for all ages meets from 9:40 to 10:45 a.m. every Sunday. If you need help finding a class, come to one of the Welcome Centers on Sunday morning, and we’ll take you to the class of your choosing.

If you are new to Wilshire, you may want to choose to come to the Wilshire Welcome class first. This is a four-week class that meets year round and currently meets near McIver Chapel. Each week of the class covers a specific topic. It doesn't matter which order you hear the topics so if you miss a week this month, you can hear the topic you missed next month.
