Join the Wilshire Adventurers

Wilshire Adventurers is a fellowship and travel group that provides monthly activities for all adults 60 and older. A committee of senior adults plans these activities in consultation with Associate Pastor Mark Wingfield and Minister to Senior Adults Jessica Capps. Activities range from game days at the church to weeklong trips around the country.

Are you a senior adult new to Wilshire? If you are new to Wilshire, the activities with the Wilshire Adventurers provide an easy way to meet new people, learn about Wilshire and have some fun.

Wilshire also has a weekly meal (Koinonia Cafe) on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. in our Community Hall followed by a Bible study or speaker at noon. The menu changes weekly. Menu/Prices. These meals are heavily attended by senior adults and are another good entry point in to the life of the church.

Upcoming events:

Adventurers to Arboretum
All senior adults are invited to a picnic and visit to the Dallas Arboretum on Thursday, Sept. 27. The first 35 participants to sign up will ride a chartered bus from the church to the Arboretum at 9:45 a.m. Others are invited to carpool or drive on their own. A picnic lunch will be provided. The event is free. Sign up with Pat Tilley at the Adventurers table on Wednesdays in Community Hall or on Sunday mornings in the South Lobby.

Trip to Ireland
Mark and Alison Wingfield will lead a spring 2019 trip to Ireland, and any interested adult is invited to join the 13-day tour, (May 23-June 4), which will include Ireland and Northern Ireland. An information session about the trip will be offered on Sunday, Sept. 9, at noon in Community Hall. A representative from Collette Tours will be present to highlight the trip and answer questions. Anyone who makes a reservation and pays the $500 deposit that day or before will receive an additional $50 per person discount, on top of a $200 discount already available for booking before Nov. 23. You do not have to be a senior adult to participate in this trip. Full details on the trip are available by following the link at wilshirebc.org/registration.
